Burum (meaning ‘yeast’ in Welsh) are a jazz sextet that perform jazz interpretations of Welsh folk tunes. The band’s music fuses a deep respect for the original folk melodies themselves with the flexibility and dynamics of jazz improvisation - beautiful, melancholic melodies are performed alongside fiery solos and deep grooves.
Burum released their fourth album ‘Eneidiau’ (Spirits) in 2022, which was included in many ‘best of...’ lists at the end of the year. Burum have toured Wales numerous times and performed internationally. This will be their first visit to Taliesin. Come for a memorable night of Welsh folk and jazz – unique Welsh music at its very best.
